About Us

Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) was established on February 1st. 1978 by the State Government of Gujarat. The prime objective of the AUDA's formation was to carry out the sustained planned development of the area falling outside the periphery of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.

The important functions of the Authority include the preparation of physical plan for the Development of Ahmedabad Urban Agglomeration, to prepare the draft Town Planning Schemes, to implement the revised Town Planning Schemes and to monitor and control the development activities in accordance with the Revised Development Plan. Besides, it is also responsible for the development of the infrastructures like road, sewerage, water supply and other basic civic amenities.

In addition to the area falling under the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's limit, it also includes 5 growth centers and 169 villages of Ahmedabad district. The expansion of AUDA comes of 186600 Hectares(1866-sq. km.) Area, which includes Ahmedabad City (Municipal Corporation) of 44950 Hectares.

The constitution of the authority is well defined. AUDA is governed through a board whose members are the Chairman - AUDA. Secretary - Urban Development Secretary - Revenue Department, Presidents of District Panchayats of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Kheda and Mehsana: standing committee Chairperson of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Chief Town Planner - Gujarat State. Financial Advisor - Urban Development, Municipal Commissioner - Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Collector - Ahmedabad District and the Chief Executive Officer - AUDA.

MISSION

To transform outskirt of Ahmedabad into a city where all citizens have access to basic services and all development take place in a planned manner, supporting rapid, self financed and sustainable economic growth.

Basic Function

  • -To prepare Physical plan for development of urban area.
  • -To implement the planning proposal.
    • City level projects through land acquisition.
    • Preparation of Town Planning Scheme (TP Scheme) for detailed planning. (Micro Level Planning)
  • -To regulate the private development in accordance with the plan proposal.
  • -Planning and Implementation of Infrastructure and Social facility.
  • -Authorities prepares Plan of the Scheme and take responsibility of providing roads and other infrastructure flacity.
  • -Land is developed by respective land owners.
