Building Capacity of Nagarpalikas

Although AUDA's role is limited to undertaking planning and infrastructure development, the public often expects it to fulfill all municipal functions, such as solid waste management, maintenance of roads, and maintenance of other infrastructure. These functions are actually supposed to be carried out by Nagarpalikas and Grampanchayats within the AUDA area.

Implementation Initiatives

AUDA is taking several measures to build the capacity of Nagarpalikas:

• Street lighting has been installed on TP roads, a function typically belonging to the Nagarpalika or Grampanchayat.
• For better disposal of solid waste, AUDA has identified and acquired a spot that could serve as a disposal site for all Nagarpalikas and Panchayats.
• For better management of solid waste, Nagarpalikas have been provided with equipment like tractors, dumpers, loaders, and dustbins.
• Extensive cleaning is carried out at least twice a year within Nagarpalika areas.
